Lip Balm Reviews

No matter what season for me, I tend to have pretty dry lips, even more so after I got braces, and finding a good lip balm is a tiring experience for me. I've compiled a few lip balms I've tried and will be making a quick overview of them that with hopefully help you if you're suffering from dry lips like me.

Carmex Lip Balm

key points:
-7.5g
-$1.00+
- jar container
-distinct medicinal smell
-no colour
- high sheen

review:
This was a great relief for my peeling lips, and it really soothed and made my lips soft. Good for desperate situations, may be drying on the long term.

3.5/5

Burt's Bees Ultra Conditioning with Kokum Butter

key points:
-4.35g
-$5
-100% natural
-4 hour mousturization (?)
-thin application
-lime-y smell
-more oily than waxy
-no colour

review:
For me, the '4 hour moisturization' claim didn't work out so much for me. It applied thinly and i found I needed to apply rather often and after I couldn't feel it on my lips anymore, they actually went pretty dry. Not too happy for the price but hey, it's all natural.

2.5/5

Nivea Hydro Care

key points:
-4.8g
-$1.96
-no colour

review:
This was just a very average lip balm. It didn't dry me out but it didn't exactly give me improvement. Kept me from having peeling lips over the summer and the only lip balm I've used up. Not too shabby.

3/5

Nivea Sun Protect Lip Balm

key points:
-4.8g
-$1.96
-SPF 30
-waterproof
-very light colour

review:
The colour when applied is supposed to be very faint but due to the uneveness of my lips due to dryness, the colour really shows and is very uneven and messy. Can't say much for moisture since I don't use it but it's just average.

2.5/5

Nivea Pure and Natural Milk and Honey

key points:
-4.8g
-$1.96
-some natural ingredients
-light orange colour but comes on clear

review:
I pretty good purchase. It hydrates well but leaves my lips the tiniest bit still dry.

4/5

Blistex Simple and Sensitive

key points:
-4.25g
-$1.00+
-only 6 ingredients
-no colour
-high sheen
-odd smell
-messy

review:
I really enjoyed this lip balm in the beginning. It hydrates and stays on well and even after, it leaves my lips feeling more hydrated than before instead of leaving it back to it's original state. I like how there's not much ingredients but soon, you'll find application hard and pretty messy. I also went through this very quickly and can't use the end up without smearing a huge chunk of it onto my lips.

Boohoo.com Cardigan Review

So recently, I bought a knit cardigan from boohoo.com and I though it'd be nice to share my experience. So here's a quick story: I've been searching for a nice, affordable knit cardigan online for a long time. The places I've checked out either didn't have any or they were much too expensive for a young student like me so I was so excited to find that boohoo had a great range of very nice looking knit cardigans. Actually, when I first visited, their knit cardigans were $40 which I was a bit hesitant about but still, it was a much better price compared to what I've seen surfing the web (I've checked forever 21 but they only had some in their us site and I live in canada and yesstyle is a bit risky in my experience) but then after awhile, boohoo actually raised their prices to $50 and I was quite bummed because for sure I couldn't spend that much on a cardigan so I thought I had to go searching again. It definitely felt like seeing a pond in the desert but finding it was only a mirage, but then it turned out they were having a 25% of the whole site which made the cardigan only $37.50 -cheaper than what I was originally going to pay for- and I was very, very excited and bought a cardigan immediately before the coupon expired. So, that's my little story on how I came to purchase this cardigan, let's continue with the review!

summary
Price: $37.50 CAD
Material: 100% acrylic
Length: 74cm/29"
Shipping: Free -over $25- 8 days (?)

Packaging:
My order came in a boohoo bag and it was easy to open by the glued flap. Inside, the cardigan was inside a clear bag.

Quality:
I'm not a materials expert when it comes to clothing and I was a bit iffy about the 100% acrylic. I had bought a cardigan off of yesstyle before and it was also 100% acrylic and it was a bit rough and very structured so I wasn't too sure how this cardigan would turn out truthfully, but there was nothing to worry about! This cardigan is pretty soft and flowy. I'm very satisfied with how it feels and wears. The product is knitted as if your grandmother hand knitted this for you and is the perfect throw on for the chilly days. I just got it and haven't worn it out but I'm guessing this will last for a long time.

Appearence:
I got the cardigan in wine and the colour in real life is very nice! Just a great fall piece. The buttons are plastic I think, and I was expecting wood for some reason but they're still nice and seem sturdy.

Sizing:
I think sizing was the thing I was worrying about the most, seeing that I'm a 157cm(roughly 5'1.5?) 95 lb girl and 74cm is pretty long but I really couldn't pass on this deal so I just hoped for the best. Now that I have the cardigan, it definitely is an oversized fit and it reaches mid thigh. It does seem a bit big on me which is disappointing but it's only my fault and I'll still wear it anyways.

Shipping:
So I didn't pay anything for shipping since my order was above $25 but if it's lower, shipping is $9.99. I ordered on a wednesday and got it the next thursday, so 8 days which I think is great considering they wouldn't have shipped it right away so it took not many days for shipping. I didn't pay customs or anything but if you're curious on customs costs in Canada (since I live there), here are the prices from FedEx and USPS. UPS has a flat rate of $5.

Here are some pictures of the cardigan.
I think it would be absolutely perfect if it cut off at the last button for my height.
The sleeves would go over my hands if the cuffs weren't there to support it.

the cuffs dip at the seam but it's not that bothersome.

Overall I'm really happy about the purchase and I would probably buy more if they were a bit cheaper (seeing as the 25% coupon is gone) since I don't have a job yet and rely on my parents :'c and if it was just a tad shorter but this cardigan is just great and I'm glad I have a beautiful, burgundy clothing piece for the cooler days. It's soft and cozy and the price wasn't too bad. boohoo has a great range of other nice clothes which I'll be checking out. I think that's about it, thank you for reading c:

ah! also, this wan't sponsored or anything, I just bought this cardigan and thought you'd like to know what I thought about it ^^
