Lip Balm Reviews

No matter what season for me, I tend to have pretty dry lips, even more so after I got braces, and finding a good lip balm is a tiring experience for me. I've compiled a few lip balms I've tried and will be making a quick overview of them that with hopefully help you if you're suffering from dry lips like me.

Carmex Lip Balm

key points:
-7.5g
-$1.00+
- jar container
-distinct medicinal smell
-no colour
- high sheen

review:
This was a great relief for my peeling lips, and it really soothed and made my lips soft. Good for desperate situations, may be drying on the long term.

3.5/5

Burt's Bees Ultra Conditioning with Kokum Butter

key points:
-4.35g
-$5
-100% natural
-4 hour mousturization (?)
-thin application
-lime-y smell
-more oily than waxy
-no colour

review:
For me, the '4 hour moisturization' claim didn't work out so much for me. It applied thinly and i found I needed to apply rather often and after I couldn't feel it on my lips anymore, they actually went pretty dry. Not too happy for the price but hey, it's all natural.

2.5/5

Nivea Hydro Care

key points:
-4.8g
-$1.96
-no colour

review:
This was just a very average lip balm. It didn't dry me out but it didn't exactly give me improvement. Kept me from having peeling lips over the summer and the only lip balm I've used up. Not too shabby.

3/5

Nivea Sun Protect Lip Balm

key points:
-4.8g
-$1.96
-SPF 30
-waterproof
-very light colour

review:
The colour when applied is supposed to be very faint but due to the uneveness of my lips due to dryness, the colour really shows and is very uneven and messy. Can't say much for moisture since I don't use it but it's just average.

2.5/5

Nivea Pure and Natural Milk and Honey

key points:
-4.8g
-$1.96
-some natural ingredients
-light orange colour but comes on clear

review:
I pretty good purchase. It hydrates well but leaves my lips the tiniest bit still dry.

4/5

Blistex Simple and Sensitive

key points:
-4.25g
-$1.00+
-only 6 ingredients
-no colour
-high sheen
-odd smell
-messy

review:
I really enjoyed this lip balm in the beginning. It hydrates and stays on well and even after, it leaves my lips feeling more hydrated than before instead of leaving it back to it's original state. I like how there's not much ingredients but soon, you'll find application hard and pretty messy. I also went through this very quickly and can't use the end up without smearing a huge chunk of it onto my lips.

3/5
